Copyright for Librarians?
Copyright is a complex subject, and it impacts the lives of everyone operating in an educational field. In creating this pathfinder, it has been my mission to be sensitive to that complexity, while providing not only accurate but complete information, and therein lies the trick. In the interest of being able to offer a holistic scope of copyright resources, I narrowed down my goal to creating a bit of a meta pathfinder. Here, you will find resources on copyright that librarians and educators should have at their fingertips and on their radar.
What do our educators (which includes our librarians) need to know about copyright? Where can they find the most relevant information that will assist them in their jobs? These questions and more are those I set out to enable the reader of this pathfinder to answer.
This pathfinder was designed as part of a project for IST 605: part of my MLIS degree program at Syracuse University. That said, I hope it will prove useful outside of my class, as well!
As I tackled this pathfinder, it felt very much like an uphill battle (hence the above mountain landscape). Every time I'd think I was nearing the top of the mountain, I'd arrive to find myself on a ledge, with seemingly miles to go. I know I'm not alone in feeling overwhelmed by the massive implications of harnessing enough accurate information to provide a solid footing on this subject, and that's precisely why I decided to approach it.
